Spent two days at Adobe Head Office earlier in the week. Amongst doing some hands on work with an inspiring group of people I got to catch the view on a couple of occasions. Shot with a 4S running IOS7.
After recently updating the 645 Pro app on my phone to the MkII version I had a chance to put it through it’s paces while I was over at St Leonards in Nth Sydney recently.
This morning jag.gr (makers of 6×6, 6×7, Pure Shot and Field Cam) released the most significant update to it’s flagship 645 Pro camera app. As a long time user of the app I found that the update made the whole 645 Pro experience so much more user friendly. The interface has had a complete re-design and is simply more intuitive and pleasurable to use. Many of the standard features are still there (exposure lock, focus lock, white balance lock),
whilst the re-designed Back Selector, Film Mode Selector and Photo Filter Selector
open up flow style interfaces that make the selection of options for these functions a breeze.
If the previous model had options for selecting filters I was never able to find it. But with the MkII a great range of filters are available along with an incremental adjustment wheel (lower right) which allows you to set a percentage level for the filter strength. This makes working, particularly in Black and White, a rewarding experience. The addition of graduated neutral density filters is also a great plus for landscape work in either colour or black and white.
Full GPS data, ISO, shutter speed, camera battery level, file compression and film type are viewable in the standard workspace.
The full set of features along with a down-loadable pdf manual can be found over at jag.gr
If you haven’t used this app yet all I can say is that you are missing out.

I was fortunate enough to receive honorable mentions this year in three different categories, so I guess I’m quite happy to be included in such good company. Thanks IPPAWARDS.
Once again thanks to Charles McKean for the invite to participate in this years AddOn Exhibition. Last years show was memorable to say the least and it’s simply a great pleasure to be a part of a show that I know will push me to keep refining the way I see and do things.

Congratulations to all the category winners and photographers receiving honorable mentions. Although not as lucky as 2011 (Winner in ‘Nature’ and ‘Others’), I was fortunate enough to be included amongst the photographers whose works were selected for honorable mentions in the “Landscape” and “People” categories. You can see my entries here, here and here.
This is an international contest with thousands of entries from over 20 countries. It’s nice to have the work acknowledged in this manner.
A big thanks to the organizers who made it possible.
The AddOn Exhibition closes tomorrow and I can say without a doubt that it was a great pleasure to have work hanging alongside some of the exceptional talent in that show. A big thank you to Charles McKean for the invite to submit work. The curatorial for the show was managed by Charles McKean and Moshe Rosenzveig. Hats off for a beautiful journey through 122 photographic works. Mention also must be made of the stunning book of the works in the show produced by Momento Books. Last years AddOn 2011 book received a Silver Award at the Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards. That should give you some idea of the quality I’m talking about.
I didn’t start taking shots of the show until the huge crowd began thinning out. Here’s a little from the show.
Red Giant have come out with all guns blazing with the release of Plastic Bullet Version 2, a new update for V 1.0 / 1.2 for iPhone. Version 2 also introduces support for iPad. So far the results on both platforms are pretty spectacular. There’s an extensive list of feature updates at the site but what impressed me most of all on both iPhone and iPad was the ability to maintain aspect ratios. Previously if you used an image with a square aspect, panoramic, 16:9 horizontal or vertical, Plastic Bullet defaulted to a standard aspect (4:3) rectangular crop. Now if you import a square format shot, e.g., Hipstamatic, Lomora, Retro Camera or a panoramic image, Plastic Bullet maintains the original image aspect.
As previously mentioned, Version 2 is also available for iPad. The added screen real estate of the iPad makes editing on the go a pleasure. Options for 4 or 9 render previews follows the same layout as the OSX version.
The real surprise came when I downloaded the Mac version from the App Store. Within a few minutes I had discovered that I could drag images directly from iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom. Plastic Bullet also supports RAW format files. I was able to open and process NEF and CRW files without any problems. I have not found the maximum resolution for exporting yet, but file sizes of 5000 x 5000 (working from Hipstamatic) seem to be achieved easily
.Maximum import size supported is 36megapixels.
