The Stars Tonight (2025)

Stronger Than The Sun (2000). The original version of this song was recorded in a friends lounge-room on a Tascam 4 track. A single take on the second run through the song. We had just gotten together for a day of playing through whatever came to mind. I had just written this so I threw it out for some feedback and everyone there just jumped on board and this was the result. Myself and Gordon Slattery on guitars. Kim Stubbs, Michael Slattery and Gordon on BV’s. Again a reasonably long song. This recording picks it up about two verses and a chorus in. It was at that stage a work in progress and I was never really happy with the verses so (ha ha) that’s why they’re not on the original take. Twenty-five years have gone by so I guess it was about time to finish it off.

So Let Me Stay (1998) Revised 2025 The original was recorded back in the late ’90’s on DAT. Features Suzy Corcoran on vocals, me on guitars and BV’s, Gordon Slattery on bass and BV’s, Savita Ram and Anjali Radakrishnan on BV’s. Michael Macken on sticks and mixing.

The way things are done now

These days of course after 50 years of songwriting it’s all very straightforward. Songs are recorded as ‘Voice Memos’ and lyrics are typed directly into ‘Notes’ and then uploaded to SUNO where they are re- invented as a ‘Cover’ which is simply a process of Arranging and Producing
