The Impulse to Draw @ Adobe Slate

Having been involved in the beta of Adobe Luca, it was a no brainer that when Adobe released ‘Slate’ on the App Store that I should dive into this with renewed enthusiasm. ‘Slate’ is a significant improvement on the beta and in hindsight I found that my earlier publications needed revisiting and that’s still ahead.

The latest iteration of SLATE brings ‘Glideshow’, a new feature that facilitates image dissolves with text gliding over the top. Kinda nice. Haven’t used it yet but here is something of a recent offering. Life at art school and beyond.

IMPULSE TO DRAW

AddOn @ HeadOn 2015

A big vote of thanks to Charles McKean and HeadOn Festival director Moshe Rosenzveig for the hard yards in putting together this years AddOn exhibition at Depot 1 Gallery, Waterloo.

The show runs April 29th to May 9th and officially opens this Saturday, May 2nd.

Its also a great pleasure to be invited to submit again for what is now the 4th year running.

The Ash Burner

Sometime mid 2014 Queensland University Press approached me with a request to use a photograph of mine that designer Sandy Cull had found on my Flickr feed, for the cover of an upcoming publication ‘The Ash Burner’ by Kari Gislason. This was a new gig for me and working through the release process was a healthy learning curve and possibly an exasperating on for the publishers. The reality of having a well respected designer in the person of Sandy Cull and Q.U.P. having the confidence in the image to carry the book to its conclusion and, in a nice way, validated what I do on a day to day basis.IMG_2512

Giant rotating funnel cloud @ Casey’s Beach

Sometime earlier I posted stills of this event. However I recently uncovered some video footage of this massive spinning cloud mass. It’s been sped up somewhat to make the rotation nice and clear. About 90 seconds of footage dropped to around 10.
