My partner spotted these in Wheeler’s Lane during a recent trip to Dubbo in Central NSW. Initially thought to be a night flowering cactus, a little research proved them to be a standard (but beautiful, non the less) flowering cacti that flower in the cool of night and close as the heat builds under the big sky during the day. For me they’re a very ‘sharmanic’ plant with loose associations to my teenage years and the writing of Carlos Castanenda.

Hipstamatic 300 @ Cockatoo Island
Liking the ability to set focus on the 300. Cockatoo Island is an interesting place, full of unexpected photographic finds, most of which I’ve yet to fully explore. I think you’d pretty much need a couple of days and permission to get into the interesting places. Further down the road maybe.

Sculpture by the Sea 2015 @ Hipstamatic 300.
A gigantic roll of newsprint backed by Bondi headlands and rolling cloud. Didn’t make much sense to me at the time but I loved the patent contradiction of once valued and sought after media impressions rolled into temporary stasis. A continuum of information rendered senseless.
