Mastering the Hipstamatic 300

Hipstamatic’s new 300 update to it’s classic photographic app has ruffled a lot of feathers. I guess that initially I was also among those who thought ‘what on earth were they thinking’. In the Classic interface it was sluggish to render and certainly warmed up the phone significantly. Then no sooner had I thought ‘well just put it aside for the time being a fix will be out soon’ and the 301 update was out.

In Classic mode things were only marginally better so logically I switched out of the Classic interface into the new Pro interface and discovered a whole new camera. And what a camera it is. This is a significant re-invention of Hipstamatic and one, that as soon as I found my way around the interface, opened up a whole new Hipstamatic experience and I’ve not been back to the Classic Hipsta since.

I had thought to push out some tutorial stuff on the new Pro interface but it’s been more than adequately covered at Hipstography

Here are some recent shots from the 301.

McKenzie’s Beach Dreaming @ Grace Gala

‘McKenzie’s Beach Dreaming’ fetches $1000 at Grace Gala Auction for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

This years Grace Gala raised approx $750,000 for the Children’s Hospital. A big thank you from me to Lynn Warren Smith, Claire Galea and Angela Trieste @ Vanilla Bean Events for bringing me on-board for this worthy cause. A big thanks also to the guys at Hope Tree Framing at Wentworth Falls who did such a fantastic job with the framing of the work.

Ups and downs of agency life told through miniature people.

Here’s an interesting take on the work of photographer Slinkachu

“Derrick Lin is a senior strategist at advertising agency Resource/Ammirati in Columbus, Ohio. As anyone who works in advertising, his workday is always stressful and chaotic with ridiculous situations thrown at him from both the clients and his coworkers. Seeing there is no socially acceptable way to complain about work, he started to create imaginary scenes of his agency life work scenarios with the use of his iPhone and desk lamp, taking photographs which he then shares via social media.” @ Creative Boom
